Who Qualifys for Medical Marijuana in Michigan

On November 4, 2008, Michigan voters approved the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (MMMA), which allows seriously ill patients to use medical marijuana (also referred to as medical weed, medical pot or medical cannabis). The Act permits an individual with a qualifying debilitating medical condition to register as a medical marijuana patient with the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) and avoid criminal penalties under state law for certain medical uses of marijuana. The Michigan Medical Marihuana Program (MMMP) was established to administer the registration program provided for in Michigan medical marijuana law. The MMMP reviews applications submitted by patients and caregivers wishing to participate in the MMMP and issues medical marihuana registration identification cards to those individuals whose applications are approved.

How to Qualify for Medical Marijuana in Michigan

To qualify to use medical marijuana in the state of Michigan, a patient must:

• Obtain a copy of your medical records indicating diagnosis of a qualifying condition, as listed below. Be sure to bring these records with you to your marijuana evaluation appointment. Learn how to request your medical records.
• Receive a recommendation from a Michigan licensed MD or DO. Find a qualified medical marijuana doctor in Michigan here.

What Ailments Can Be Treated with Medical Cannabis in Michigan?

Patients must suffer from a debilitating medical condition, defined by the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act as:

• Cancer, Glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Crohn's disease, agitation of Alzheimer's disease, or nail patella.
• A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:
  • Cachexia or wasting syndrome;
  • severe and chronic pain
  • Severe nausea
  • Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy; or
  • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis

• any other medical condition or treatment for a medical condition adopted by the department by rule.
  

Medical Marijuana Access

Some medical marijuana patients will claim they have a doctor's prescription for medical marijuana, but marijuana prescriptions are in fact illegal. The federal government classifies marijuana as a schedule I drug. Therefore doctors are unable to prescribe marijuana to their patients, and medical marijuana patients cannot go to a pharmacy to fill a prescription for medical marijuana. Instead, medical marijuana physicians will supply patients with a medical marijuana recommendation in compliance with Michigan state law.
According to Michigan marijuana laws, patients and their caregivers are allowed to grow medical marijuana only for the qualified patient's private medical use; they can possess up to 2.5 usable ounces and 12 plants; and they cannot purchase or sell medical cannabis. Donations Only.

About the MACC-
The Michigan Association of Compassion Centers (MACC) is an organization representing the state's citizens in defense of the rights provided under the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act. The MACC was created in response to the series of raids and legal challenges put forth by multiple law enforcement agencies during the months of August and September 2010. The Compassion Centers that have banded to-gether represent seven different counties in Michigan and have a combined membership of over 6,000 regis-tered patients and caregivers. The MACC is resolved
to confront law enforcement and prosecutors who present their skewed interpretations of the law as fact or present false information to the public. We will stand shoulder to shoulder with patients as they fight to regain their rights and to protect the law. We will use legal action to force the return of medical documents to the patients who own those records, and we will engage in civil action to hold communities responsible for the actions of their police forces.

BACK IN MID JUNE OF THIS YEAR, I HAD SPOKEN TO MONTREAL SEEDBANK INTERNATIONAL AT 514 279 7333 FOR SEVERAL HOURS OVER SEVERAL DAYS AND VERIFIED THAT THE SPECIFIC STRAINS I WAS LOOKING FOR WERE IN STOCK SO THEY COULD BE SHIPPED IMMEDIATELY, AS THAT WAS MY #1 REQUIREMENT FOR ANY VENDOR AS I AM SHORT ON TIME. I SENT $758 VIA Western Union WHICH THEY RECEIVED. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL THE NEXT DAY SAYING THAT NONE OF THE STRAINS WE DISCUSSED THAT I WANTED WERE AVAILABLE. THAT WAS DISTURBING TO BEGIN WITH. I INSISTED ON SPEAKING WITH THE OWNER CRAIG ANDREWS (BY THE WAY….THEY ARE USING A LAME RAP THAT THEY ARE NOW UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, WHICH IS BULLSHIT, THAT JERK, CRAIG ANDREWS WAS THERE BEFORE THE “NEW MANAGEMENT” AND IS STILL THERE!!!! AND IS THE #1 MAN FOR THEM) ABOUT THE MISINFORMATION THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME REGARDING THE STRAINS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE IN STOCK. HE TOLD ME THAT SINCE THEY WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF MOVING THAT VINNIE DIDN’T KNOW WHICH STRAINS WERE IN STOCK OR NOT. THAT CLEARLY WAS IN OPPOSITION TO WHAT I WAS TOLD, WHICH LED ME TO SENDING THE MONEY TO THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.
AFTER CONSIDERING MY OPTIONS, I DECIDED THAT FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I WAS SPENDING, I DIDN’T WANT TO COMPROMISE, AS I HAD TAKEN SEVERAL MONTHS, JUST TO DECIDE WHAT STRAINS I REALLY WANTED, AND DIDN’T WANT TO SETTLE FOR SOMETHING ELSE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE OWNER, CRAIG ANDREWS, HE AGREED TO RETURN MY FUNDS WITHIN 2 OR 3 DAYS.
AFTER A WEEK HAD GONE BY WITH NO SIGN OF MY RETURNED FUNDS, OR THE ORIGINAL ITEMS I HAD ORDERED, I STARTED EMAILING HIM TO INQUIRE AS TO WHAT WAS UP, AND REQUEST THE WU SPECIFICS FOR THAT MONEY WIRE TO ME.
I EMAILED AT LEAST 5 OR 10 TIMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE……..THAT WAS OVER 2 MONTHS AGO NOW…….
I THEN STARTED TO CALL TO REACH HIM, BUT COULD ONLY REACH VINNIE, NO MATTER WHAT I SAID, EVEN AFTER HEARING OTHER VOICES, QUITE SIMILAR SOUNDING TO CRAIG’S IN THE BACKGROUND…………
I FINALLY DECIDED I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO ADVERTISE FOR THE MONTEREAL SEEDBANK INTERNATIONAL, THE ONE THAT ADVERTISES IN HIGH TIMES AND IS ON THE INTERNET.
FUNNY HOW THIS WORKS, BUT AFTER POSTING A TOTALLY HONEST AND VALID BREAKDOWN OF MY EXPERIENCE, I FINALLY HEARD FROM THAT PIECE OF CRAP, CRAIG ANDREWS…………………..FIRST HE TRIED TO BACKPADDLE AFTER TOTALLY BLOWING ME OFF FOR OVER A MONTH, AND SAID HE WOULD “SEND MY ORDER SHORTLY”. WELL OBVIOUSLY AFTER NOT HEARING FROM HIM FOR OVER A MONTH, I HAD ALREADY LAID OUT ADDITONAL FUNDS TO A RESPECTABLE AND HONEST BUSINESS THAT DEALS WITH THESE PRODUCTS.
I RETURNED THE EMAIL SAYING THAT FOR ONE, THE ADDRESS I HAD GIVEN THEM OVER A MONTH AGO, WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY ADDRESS THAT IS NO LONGER VALID. AND DEMANDED THAT HE RETURN MY FUNDS AS HE HAD TOLD ME HE WOULD.
I GOT A RETURN EMAIL FROM HIM SAYING THAT HIS POLICY IS NOT TO GIVE REFUNDS…………….
YOU BE THE JUDGE, BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T SEND THOSE ASSHOLES ANY MONEY OR STEER ANY OF YOUR FRIENDS TO THEM……..MAYBE STEER THE PEOPLE YOU HATE, AS THEY ARE PROBABLY A PERFECT MATCH FOR THAT PIECE OF CRAP, CRAIG ANDREWS……
